Richard Armand Morneau

Richard Armand Morneau, 72, died Monday, December 24, 2018 at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack, NH after a battle with Lewy Body Dementia. He was the son of Armand and Rienette Morneau born on April 20,1946 in Berlin, NH. He is survived by his wife Colleen; daughter Kate Morneau and husband Frank Marowitz, son, Steven and wife Taylor and son, Riley; three grandchildren, Olivia, Kaden, and Leila; sisters, Pauline Copley and husband Bill and Ann Perrault; former wife, Karen Morneau as well as many nieces and nephews.

Dick graduated from Berlin High School in 1964. He enlisted in the Army and served in Vietnam from 1964-1967. During his service, he was a Surveyor with the Army Corps of Engineers who used the stars to map islands in the Pacific earning a rank of Specialist Four. Upon returning home, he attended the New Hampshire Technical Institute in Concord where he received an associate's degree in Mechanical Engineering. Dick then went on to the University of New Hampshire to earn a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering. While at college, he made life-long friendships that he kept in touch with into well into retirement. He started his career with the NH Department of Transportation in Twin Mountain in bridge construction and worked his way up to become an Assistant District Engineer in Maintenance with Division One in Lancaster. He retired after thirty years of service. He was excited about the projects he worked on and enjoyed talking about them with everyone.

He started an engineering firm, Associated Consulting Engineers, in 1985 with longtime friends, Glenn Lavoie and Bruce Charland. It started as a part time business that became full time after Dick retired from the State. Once full time, he took on larger projects such as the civil design for the Ledgewood Development in Bethlehem, NH.

Dick was an avid skier and had been on the Bretton Woods Ski Patrol from 1985 until recently. Some of his best memories were skiing with family, friends, and his co-workers, who were a second family to him. For about five years, Dick was the Scout Master for the Littleton Boy Scouts Troop. You could often find Dick outdoors, enjoying hunting, fishing, sugaring, and gardening. Dick had a unique ability to connect with people. He was a natural teacher and leader and was the first to offer to lend a hand for any project. Dick was the life of the party and loved finding any excuse to light off fireworks in his backyard. He valued family, friendship, and laughter.

He was predeceased by his parents, his sister Lorraine, brother-in-law Ronnie Perrault, and his nephew Michael Perrault.
