Richard R. Proulx
Richard R. Proulx, 78, of Litchfield, NH died on Thursday, March 22, 2018 at his residence.
Mr. Proulx was born on July 4, 1939, in Manchester, NH, the son of the late Philippe and Eva (Veilleux) Proulx. He was a lifelong resident of Manchester, moving to Litchfield 5 years ago.
He graduated from Bishop Bradley High School and attended Keene State College and the University of NH.
He was a veteran and served in the United States Army.
For 40 years, Mr. Proulx was the owner and operator of ABC Driving School in Manchester. As a driving instructor, he taught countless students in both French and English, and was particularly dedicated to helping new U.S. citizens learn to drive. He enjoyed helping people and was devoted to work and his family. He loved to exercise, and was an avid jogger, cyclist, cross-country skier, and tennis player-- hobbies that enabled his favorite pastime, grocery shopping. Mr. Proulx will be remembered for his winning smile, great sense of humor, and the fact that no one he met remained a stranger for long.
Members of his family include his wife of 44 years, Rita B. (Bourque) Proulx, of Litchfield, NH; two daughters, Karen Proulx, of Nashua, NH; Christine Proulx and her husband, Jamie Smith, of Columbia, MO; two grandchildren, Olivia and Evan Proulx Smith; two sisters, Germaine Comeau, of Groveland, MA; Lorraine Cote, of Atkinson, NH; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Lucille Raczka.
SERVICES: A memorial gathering will be held on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 from 9:00 – 11:00 AM at the Phaneuf Funeral Home, 243 Hanover Street, in Manchester. A prayer service will follow in the funeral home chapel at 11:00 AM. Interment will take place at a later date in the NH State Veterans Cemetery, in Boscawen.
It has been suggested that those who wish may make memorial gifts to the American Heart Association, in memory of Mr. Proulx.
