Richard J. Provencher of Manchester, passed away on Friday, February 9, 2024 after a long-fought battle with Parkinson’s Disease.
He was born in Berlin, NH on May 3, 1944 the son of Edmond and Carrie Provencher. He proudly served his country in the USAF and was an active member of the American Legion Post #2 in Manchester. “Dick”, as his family and friends knew him, graduated from NH College and started his career with Ford Credit in Bedford. He enjoyed spending time in the NEK on Averill Lake, sharing stories and jokes around the campfire. He was noted for saying “Don’t get hurt, it’s a long ride to the hospital.” Dick touched many lives and hearts throughout his almost 80 years in New Hampshire.
He is survived by his wife, Jackie (Gamache) Provencher; son Jason Provencher and his wife Kendall; and grandson Aiden. He also leaves behind two brothers, Norman “Zeke” Robichaud and Larry “Chummy” Provencher, as well as many extended family and dear friends. Dick’s family would also like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the geropsychiatric unit of Elliot Hospital.
A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, February 17th from 10am-12pm at The Phaneuf Funeral Home & Crematorium, 243 Hanover Street in Manchester. A memorial service will follow at 12pm in the funeral home. Family and friends are kindly invited to attend. Interment will be private.
