Richard B. Rice, Jr., a beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on November 5, 2025, at Elliot Hospital in Manchester, NH. He was born on July 17, 1936, in Malden, MA, and lived a life full of passion, dedication, and a deep love for his family and friends.

Richard's career began in the early 1960s with Continental Insurance, and he ultimately finished his professional journey as the Assistant Vice President of Claims for American Mutual Insurance in Wakefield, MA. His expertise in the insurance field was matched only by his devotion to the people he worked with, earning him respect and admiration throughout his career.

He graduated from Concord High School before furthering his studies at Northeastern University. In addition to his professional achievements, Richard served his country with honor in the National Guard.

An active member of Central Congregational Church in Derry, Richard's faith and community involvement were cornerstones of his life. He was a man who cherished the connections he made and found joy in giving back to others.

Richard was an avid sailor, often recalling fond memories of sailing with his father in Scituate Harbor and enjoying many beautiful days at Newfound Lake. His love for nature extended to working with his hands, as he took great pleasure in tackling various projects around the house and remodeling the family cottage. His talents encompassed tole painting and woodworking, showcasing his remarkable skills and creativity. Richard found enjoyment on the golf course and embraced quiet moments fishing as well.

Family was Richard's biggest accomplishment. He is survived by his loving daughters, Karen Rudzinski and her husband Tom, and Lisa Arlen. He takes great pride in his grandchildren, Derek Rudzinski and his wife Sarah, Daniel Arlen, and Kimberly Arlen, as well as his cherished great-grandchildren, Harrison and William Rudzinski, who brought immense joy to his life.

Richard was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Anne M. Rice, whom he loved dearly, and his brothers, Keith Rice and Peter Rice. He also mourned the loss of his grandson, Drew Rudzinski, and son-in-law Kenneth Arlen, all of whom held special places in his heart.

As we remember Richard, let us celebrate a life well-lived—a life dedicated to family, faith, and service. A memorial gathering will be held on November 17, 2025, at Phaneuf Funeral Homes & Crematorium in Manchester, NH, starting at 10:00 a.m., followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. His legacy of love and kindness will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him.
