Mr. Richard R. Roy, 83, of Manchester died February 25, 2010 at the Elliot Hospital in Manchester surrounded by family. He was born on January 18, 1927 on Exeter St in Newmarket, NH the son of Thomas and Florence (LaRoche) Roy. He attended Newmarket High School. Richard was a veteran of the US Navy 1944 on liberty ship US Avery Island in the Pacific. He went to Japan and earned three medals. Following discharge he worked as a counterman for the Red Arrow Restaurant while studying photography. He owned and operated Roy Studio of Professional Photography and established his own color lab. He held office with the NHPPA and was a member and historian for the Catholic War Veterans Post 1624. Richard was also a CB and HAM Radio operator. In His Life: He is survived by his wife Patricia A. (Wilder) Roy of Manchester; his son, Thomas R. Roy and his wife Linda of Hooksett, his daughter, Linda Grace and her husband Les Perrin III of Litchfield and Wesley C. Roy of Manchester; one granddaughter, Elizabeth Roy and grandsons, Joel, Jack and Jesse Green and one sister, Alice Stone and several nieces and nephews. His Memorial Gathering will be held at the Phaneuf Funeral Home, 243 Hanover St, Manchester, on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8PM. His Memorial Mass will be celebrated at the Parish of the Transfiguration, Alsace St, Manchester on Wednesday at 11:00AM. Everyone is asked to meet at church. Interment will be at the NH State Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen on Wednesday at 3:00PM.
