Richard A. Sage, 54, of 44 Miles Avenue, Goffstown, died February 24, 2004 at the Elliot hospital. He was born in West Stewartstown on May 15, 1949, the son of Adolphe and Gabrielle (Lemieux) Sage and had been a Manchester and Goffstown resident for most of his life. He served in the United State Army for six years and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He received the Purple Heart and the Army Commendation Medal. While in Vietnam, he served with the Jungle Eaters Force, which was the Armys 60th land clearing company. He received a medal from the President of South Vietnam for his work in opening roads through the jungle to the town of SongBe. He had currently been employed as a crane operator and foreman with Pizzagalli Corporation where he worked in different parts of the country for the past 12 years. He was active in Manchester Youth Hockey and had been the Midget Division Manager for the Program. Family members include his wife of 34 years, Jacqueline (Provost) Sage; three sons, Eric Sage, Jeff Sage an Peter Sage, all of Goffstown; two grandchildren; three brothers, Ronald Sage of Deerfield, Paul Sage of Manchester and Donald Sage of Dunbarton; three sisters, Jeannine Gagnon and Lucille Derry, both of Manchester and Mary Jane Caron of Dunbarton; and several nephews, nieces, uncles, aunts and cousins. In his life: he enjoyed spending time with the two grandchildren, Nolan McKeon and Rayna Sage. Calling hours will be at Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 250 Coolidge Avenue on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday morning at 10:00 in St. Patrick Church. Burial with military honors will follow in the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen.
