Richard R. "Dick" St. Hilaire of Goffstown, NH died on Thursday, September 27, 2012 after a long battle with heart disease. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Jacqueline (Richer) St. Hilaire.
Dick was born on November 6, 1940 in Manchester, NH and was the son of the late Wilfred and Odelie (Michel) St. Hilaire. Raised in Manchester and graduated from St. Marie High School in 1958, Richard was very active with the school and served on their reunion committees.
Dick served in the United States Air Force Reserve and was called to active duty during the Berlin Crisis. He owned and operated the Messenger Book Shop and was employed as a meat cutter throughout his life. When he retired in 2006, he and his wife became nannies to several of their grandchildren.
He was the chairman of Christian Formation, a lector, and a religious educator at St. Edmond Parish in Manchester.
Dick enjoyed playing golf, cooking (his favorite dish was turkey pot pie), which he enjoyed while sipping a martini and listening to talk radio. He was active with the Cardiac Rehab Program at the Wellness Center. He liked to entertain family and friends, but most important to him was his beloved family.
In addition to his wife, Dick is survived by three daughters; Donna DesRuisseaux and her husband David of Goffstown, Joanne Towle and her husband Michael of Barnstead, Lisa St. Hilaire and her husband Dennis Wieners of Londonderry, 8 grandchildren, Rachel DesRuisseaux, Ryan DesRuisseaux, Eric DesRuisseaux all of Goffstown, Jacob Towle, Mikayla Towle, Caleb Towle all of Barnstead, Alec St. Hilaire, Cassandra St. Hilaire both of Londonderry. He is also survived by several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Linda St. Hilaire and his siblings Raoul St. Hilaire, Armand St. Hilaire, Robert St. Hilaire, Rolande Rene and Irene Guertin.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, September 30, 2012 from 4:00 â 8:00 p.m. in the Phaneuf Funeral Home, 250 Coolidge Avenue, Manchester, NH. Courtesy valet parking will be provided. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, October 1, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the Parish of the Transfiguration, 305 Kelley Street, Manchester, NH.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to be made in his name to the Parish of the Transfiguration, Food Pantry, 107 Alsace Street, Manchester, NH 03102.
