Richard Sullivan, 83, a resident of Manchester, died on Tuesday, February 11, 2020 at the Community Hospice in Merrimack with his loving family by his side. He was the partner of twenty-six years to Joan Lydon.
He was born in Boston, MA on October 17, 1936 and was the son of the late John and Dorothea (O'Sullivan) Sullivan. He spent his younger years in Charlestown, was a graduate of Malden Catholic High School and was a U.S. Air Force Veteran.
He was Owner and Publisher of Suburban Real Estate News of NH for thirty years before retiring. Richard was an active man who liked to participate in town politics and was a founder of the Hooksett Chamber of Commerce, established in 2010.
Richard was a father and grandfather who loved to cheer on his children and grandchildren at their sporting events. Richard was a great cook and could throw a gourmet meal together using whatever was handy. He loved to socialize with anyone and everyone. Sailing around the Caribbean was his ultimate pleasure, including participating in the Heineken Regatta. There were many wonderful, memorable trips with his friends over the years.
Richard is survived by his four children, Mark Sullivan and his wife, Deidra, Patty Esposito and her husband, Steve, all of Westford, MA, Jamie Sullivan and his wife, Cathy, of Hampton and Kevin Sullivan of Nashua; seven grandchildren, Colin and his wife, Kristen, Meghan, Bobby, Michael, Matthew, Liam, Rory and his first great-grandson, Parker; his siblings, Arthur Sullivan of Coral Gables, FL. and Jacqui Clark of Billerica, MA and many nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by his three sisters, Carol McNalley, Arlene Dacey and Dot Pike.
ARRANGEMENTS: A gathering for Richard will be held on Sunday, February 16th from 1- 3PM at the Phaneuf Funeral Home, 250 Coolidge Avenue, Manchester. A Memorial Service will be held immediately following at 3PM.
