Richard H. Taylor, Sr., 79, of Derry, NH died July 18, 2009, at the Elliot Hospital. He was born on January 24, 1930 in Everett, MA. and was the son of Walter and Frances (Johnston) Taylor, and resided most of his life in the Londonderry and Goffstown Communities. He was the widower of Theresa (Martel) Taylor who died in 2007 and were married for 55 years. Although retired, Richard was an integral part of the day to day operation of R.H. Taylor Drywall and National Drywall Companies in Goffstown. He served in the Merchants Marines and was stationed in Japan from 1945 to 1947. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather Richard enjoyed spending time with his family and was a helping hand to many. Family members include his son; Richard Taylor, Jr. of Derry; three daughters; Constance Gagnon of Chester, NH; Kathleen Sands of Manchester, NH and Theresa Pare of Goffstown, NH, many grandchildren and great grandchildren, a brother, Edward Taylor of Connecticut; two sisters, Janice and Judith both of Massachusetts, many nieces, nephews and cousins. IN HIS LIFE: Richard spent his earliest years in a seaside town and always retained a love of the ocean. As a young man, he traveled the world in service to his country. He was extremely well read and spent much of his free time reading historical and political writings. He was fascinated by astronomy. He was curious and inquisitive about the world around him and he remained so to the end of his life. Richard was much beloved as a husband, father, friend and mentor. He was especially close to Allan Vitale who he treated as a son. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. SERVICES: Services will be private.
