Rita L. Bernier, 79, of St. Petersburg, Florida and formerly of Manchester, NH died at the Palms of Pasadena Hospital, South Pasadena, FL on February 7, 2003 after a short illness. She was born in Manchester, NH on November 1, 1923, the daughter of the late Arthur and Yvonne (Beliveau) St. Onge and moved with her husband to Laconia at the time of his retirement. She was a graduate of Ste. Marie High School and was a parishioner of St. Joseph Cathedral. She was an electronics assembler for RCL Electronics and Arcidy Electronics in Manchester, NH. She had been a resident of Florida for the past 15 years. Rita is the widow of Marcel Bernier who died in 1988. She loved the ocean and especially enjoyed her trips to New Hampshire to see her family and friends every summer. Family members include her daughter, Louise Y. Bernier of Manchester, her predeceased daughter, Diane Bernier, her son, Norman Bernier of St. Petersburg, FL her sister, Claire Levesque of Manchester, NH, a granddaughter, Billie Gregorio of New Boston, NH, two great grandchildren, Darcy and Kelsey Gregorio of New Boston, NH, two grandsons, several nieces, nephews and cousins. SERVICES: A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, March 1, 2003, in St. Patrick Church, 138 Coolidge Avenue, Manchester at 10 AM. Urn burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. The family request flowers be omitted and donations made in her memory to the American Heart Association, 20 Merrimack Street, Manchester, NH 03101. The Phaneuf Funeral Homes & Crematorium is in charge of local arrangements.
