Rita L. Hardy

Rita L. Hardy, 70, of Goffstown died March 31, 2005 at Elliot Hospital in Manchester following a brief illness. She was born on April 1, 1924 in Great Barrington, MA the daughter of the late Emile and Augustine (Gillett) Verchot. Rita graduated from Housatonic Grammar School & Seares High School in Great Barrington. She worked for the Connelly Law Firm, Dempsey Garage as office manager, and for Montgomery Ward before retiring in 1989. She was married to Arthur Hardy in 1959 and the couple enjoyed 45 devoted years together before he passed away this past February. Rita was active in as a volunteer for Prime Time and helped in many of their projects including "Daffodil Days" for the American Cancer Society. She also volunteered with Easter Seals, transporting clients to medical appointments. Rita was a loving mother and grandmother who cherished spending time with her grandchildren. Family members include; two daughters and son-in-laws, Rita and Warren Silva of Provincetown, MA and Patricia and Matthew Wallace of Goffstown; two granddaughter and one grandson; a sister, Helen Atwood of Great Barrington, MA; and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, April 4th at 10:00 AM at St. Lawrence Church in Goffstown. Burial will take place in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
