NORTH HAVERHILL, NH Rita M. Holmes, age 81, passed away on Thursday, January 8, 2009 at the Grafton County Nursing Home.
Rita was born on July 23, 1927, a daughter to Olive Larrivee of Berlin, NH. She attended Littleton High School and graduated in the summer of 1946. Shortly thereafter Rita married Lawrence R. Holmes in July 1946, until his death in May 1990.
Rita was employed with New England Tel & Tel for 14 years, 7 years with Dr. Robert Enderson, DMD, and finally retired from the Littleton Hospital after 15 years. She was a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary, V.F.W. Post #816, where she was President and District President.
Rita is survived by her son, Gregory C. Holmes, Sr. of Lake Placid, FL; one grandson, Gregory C. Holmes, Jr. better known as Chad, of Sarasota, Florida; and a sister-in-law, Cheryl Holmes Powell of Bonita Springs, FL.
SERVICES A Graveside service will be held in the spring, on Saturday, May 23rd at 10:00 a.m. in the Glenwood Cemetery in Littleton, NH.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the V.F.W. Post #816, Ladies Auxiliary, P. O. Box 562, Littleton, NH 03561.
