Rita M. Vezina

Rita Marcelle Perusse Vezina, 95, died suddenly but peacefully on Monday, April 3, 2017 at Mount Carmel Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.

She was the daughter of the late Anatole and Lucinda (Lamy) Caron. She was a devout Catholic with a strong faith in God that inspired her family. Her motto was always," God will take care of me" and He did.

Her first marriage was to the late Robert Perusse. They married during WWII and she spent her time working to support the war effort and organizing a household as she waited for Bob to return from the war. She was always a strong willed woman with an infectious smile.

Anyone who met her always commented on her beautiful smile. She was a lifelong resident of Manchester, NH and spent her years raising her family with Robert (Bob). As the need arose, she worked part time at various mills in Manchester and also did the accounting for Bob's part time trucking business. She was a wonderful seamstress and also enjoyed knitting, crocheting and doing ceramics. She later married Leon Vezina, who also predeceased her. During retirement, she was able to travel with her sisters and daughters and loved to dance and play cribbage. She and her second husband, Leon, spent many a night dancing at the Bedford Grove.

Rita is survived by her 3 children, Charlotte Taylor and her husband Ronald of Clear Brook, VA, Stella Bourque and her husband John of Manchester, and Richard (Dick) Perusse and his wife Elaine of Manchester; 8 grandchildren, Nicole Roan & husband Douglas of Clear Brook, VA, Matthew Bourque and wife Samantha of Dunbarton, NH, Kelly Perusse of Manchester, NH, Aaron Bourque and wife Sasha of Roslindale, MA, Sara Messa and husband Mike of Manchester, NH, Robert Taylor and wife Kathleen of Poolesville, MD, John Bourque Jr of Manchester and Tracey Bourque Coulon of Manchester; 8 great grandchildren, who made her smile that special smile, Leland and Colton Bourque, Corbin and Evelyn Roan, Connor and Lorelei Taylor, and Alexandria Coulon and Christopher Coulon and his wife Jill; and 2 sisters, Madeleine Blake of Amherst, NH and Pauline Beaudoin of Indian Wells, CA; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her eight siblings, Paul Caron, Robert Caron, Bertrand Caron, Tony Caron, Maurice Caron, Therese Phaneuf, Juliette Hemond and Noella Philbrick,

On her last day, she had lunch with her sister, Madeleine, who sent her 2 daughters, who were vacationing in Hawaii, a lovely picture of their Mom waving hello with her beautiful smile. Her son, Dick had dinner with her that last night and her 2 daughters also spoke with her. No one had any idea that they would not speak with her again.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Meeting House on Riverfront Dr., Manchester, the staff at Mount Carmel and the Manchester VNA Hospice. All were instrumental in Rita's care during the last few years of her life.

ARRANGEMENTS: Rita's Visitation will be held in the Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 250 Coolidge Ave., on Tuesday, April 11, from 4:00 to 8:00P.M. Her Funeral Mass will be Celebrated in the Parish of the Transfiguration, 107 Alsace St., Manchester, on Wednesday, April 12, at 10:00A.M. Committal to follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 474 Goffstown Rd., Manchester. Friends and relatives invited.
