Robert “Bob” Barnea, 69, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, February 2nd, 2022 at his home in Bedford, NH leaving behind his wife of 46 years, Elaine (Felong), son Tony and his wife Mary of Stratham, NH, daughter Kristen of Manchester, NH and the light of his life – his granddaughter Callie.
Born November 15th, 1952, Bob was the son of Joseph and Jane Barnea and brother of Patricia (Moquin), Michael, Jeffrey, JoAnne (who passed away in 1990), John, and Mary (Ruben). Bob grew up and spent much of his life in Manchester, NH graduating from Bishop Bradley High School and spending 30+ years as a long-time employee of the Regional Bell companies – New England Telephone, NYNEX and Verizon.
Bob was a die-hard sports fan who rarely missed watching a Red Sox or NY Giants game – always providing his own commentary of the games. Over the years, Bob took many trips to the Meadowlands in New Jersey to watch his Giants and to Fenway Park to see the Sox. What was once a yearly trip with friends, turned into a tradition with his kids, creating many great memories together that will never be forgotten.
Bob also loved to golf, no matter how hot the weather was. And, as dissecting and analyzing weather reports was one of Bob’s favorite past times, he always knew what to expect. It was commonplace for family and friends to trust Bob’s forecast over any newscaster’s, as Bob’s were more frequently accurate.
Always with a mint in his pocket, Bob’s favorite title was “Poppy” to his six-year-old granddaughter. From teaching her to play cribbage to one of their many adventures, Bob always had a smile on his face when he was with Callie. The same could be said for the time Bob spent with his family. Bob’s heart was always filled with love and pride for his children and he made sure that they knew that.
With the ability to make conversation with anyone, Bob left a mark on so many people’s lives. He will be forever missed by his family and will remain a constant happy memory in everyone’s hearts.
No formal services will be held at this time. The family is planning a Celebration of Bob’s life with family and friends to be held in the Spring/Summer of 2022.
