With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Robert Benoit Bergeron, 78, of Goffstown, NH, who passed away at home on April 21, 2021. Born in Lambton, Quebec, Canada on January 29, 1943, he was the youngest of thirteen children to the late Joseph and Marie (Laurendeau) Bergeron. He shared over 50 years of companionship with his wife, Maureen "Sandy" (McQuade) Bergeron.
Robert was raised in Sherbrooke, Quebec and as a young man moved to New Hampshire where he resided in Manchester and Goffstown. He was a master mechanic and sheet metal worker and was a member of the New England Sheet Metal Union for over 40 years. In his spare time, he loved spending time outside â be it hunting, fishing, or doing yardwork, he loved the smell of fresh air and feeling of sunshine on his face. Robert enjoyed being a part of the local community and was a lifetime member of the Rimmon Club. The pillar of strength in his family, Robert was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend who will be missed by all and remembered for his kind heart and sense of humor.
Robert is survived by his wife, Maureen "Sandy" Bergeron; his children, Lori Vincent (Dennis), Sheri McQuade, and Marc Bergeron (Lindsey); his grandchildren, Benjamin, Jonathan, Caitlin (Rob), Kristina, Owen and Henry; his great-grandchildren, Kameron, Lucien, Thomas, Charlotte, Declan, and Meredith; his sisters, Jacqueline, Jeannine, Rita and Gertrude; his sister-in-law, Dorothea; many nieces and nephews, including two special nieces, Lise Marie Therrien (Peter) and Therese Maurice; as well as countless extended family members and friends. In addition to his parents, Robert was predeceased by his siblings, Olivette, Leopold, Henri-Louis, Donald, Bernadette, Laurette, Clement, and Louis-Philippe, as well as several brother and sister in laws.
Robert's visitation will be held on Saturday, April 24th from 12-2pm with a funeral service to take place in the funeral home chapel at 2pm at Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 243 Hanover Street, Manchester, NH. He will be laid to rest on Monday, April 26th at 10am at Mount Calvary Cemetery, 474 Goffstown Road, Manchester. Those in attendance are respectfully requested to wear face coverings and practice social distancing.
