ROBERT P. CARDINAL, SR.

LITTLETON, NH  Robert P. Cardinal, Sr., age 82, passed away on Sunday, November 9th at the Littleton Regional Hospital.

A native of Littleton, Robert was born on March 16, 1926, a son to Melville and Mabel (Corum) Cardinal. He attended Littleton schools.

Robert served in the U. S. Army during World War II in the European African Middle Eastern Theater, as a Corporal with the 320th Infantry Regiment. He was the recipient of a Good Conduct Medal, an Army Occupation Medal-Germany, a Victory Medal, and a Campaign Ribbon. He was employed as a mechanic for the State of New Hampshire for 33 years until his retirement in 1988.

Robert was a very patriotic individual and served as Secretary for the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Littleton. He was a life time member of the V.F.W. Howard Shawney Post #816. Robert had a passion for decorating their house for the various holidays with the many handcrafted decorations that he made. Robert loved his grandchildren and had an unforgettable sense of humor.

Surviving family members include his wife, Dee Cardinal of Littleton, NH; three sons, Edward A. Drew Cardinal of Lakeland, FL, Robert P. Bob Cardinal, Jr. of Littleton, NH; and Richard Rick Hunt of Littleton, NH; two daughters, Mary Dunham of Ft. Valley, VA, and Terrill Platt of Berlin, NH; six grandchildren, Joanna Cardinal, Dustin Cardinal, Robert Cardinal, Joshua Hunt, Zoe Platt, and Mya Platt; one sister, Freda Wentzel of CT; and numerous nieces and nephews. Robert was predeceased by his first wife, Goldie Cardinal in 1988, and two sisters, Julia MacDougall, and Leona Thompson.

SERVICES  Calling hours will be held on Wednesday evening, November 12th from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at the Pillsbury Funeral Home located at 101 Union Street in Littleton. A Military Honors Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, November 13th at 11:30 a.m. in the Glenwood Cemetery in Littleton.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made, in his memory to the Howard Shawney Post #816, P. O. Box 562, Littleton, NH 03561.
