Robert A. Coburn

Robert A. Coburn, 79, of Center Barnstead, NH, passed away in the early evening on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, following a courageous and hard-fought battle with liver cancer.

Bob was born in New York City on June 6, 1945, the son of Robert E. and Marjorie (Lowe) Coburn, and he was a graduate of Concord High School Class of 1963. Though raised primarily in Concord, NH, he called many places “home” across the Unites States during his life, including Natchez, MS, Dallas-Ft. Worth, TX, New York City, NY, Brewster, NY, Barnstable, MA, and finally, Center Barnstead, NH. He proudly served his country with the US Army during the Vietnam War, as well as with the Army Reserves. Bob had an extensive work history, including the operation of Coburn Enterprise in Concord, NH for many years, working at International Tape in Windham, NH, and managing Rebel Drilling in Natchez, MS.

Bob will always be remembered as a practical joker who lived to make people laugh and see those around him truly happy. He loved animals and spending time outdoors canoeing and assisting his friends with their dogsledding teams, and after he retired, he found a deep and abiding friendship in the guys at Kidder’s Garage. He could most often be found helping them out with errands and odd jobs, sharing a meal at a local restaurant, or just hanging out in the garage chatting, laughing, and enjoying the company. Bob was deeply kind and incredibly generous. He loved working on his tractor and regularly helped out around the neighborhood plowing driveways during the winter. He was also always willing to drive truck and trailer so his wife could bring her Highland pony to events. His sweet disposition and easy nature ensured that everyone he met became an instant friend. Above all else, Bob loved his family fiercely and there was nothing he wouldn’t do for his brother Richard.

Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 28 years, Deborah (Wilson) Coburn; his daughter, Kristen Gaudreau and her husband Brad of Concord; his granddaughter, Alyssa Gaglione and her husband Gary of Loudon; his great-grandson, Luke Gaglione; his brother, Dr. Richard Coburn of NY; a loving family of in-laws including a niece, nephews, and other extended family; and many cherished friends.
