Robert Edward DiMauro 1937- 2012
Robert Edward DiMauro, 75, resident of Brattleboro and formerly of Putney, VT, died at Maplewood nursing home on Oct 18, 2012, two years after being diagnosed with glioblastoma multiforme.
Bob was born in Middletown, CT, the second child of Sebastian DiMauro and Sarah Orrock DiMauro. He was predeceased by his older brother Tom DiMauro of Middletown, CT and his younger sister Pat Scanlon of Charlottesville, VA. He is survived by his youngest sister, Jean Miller of Andersonville, SC.
Bob grew up in Middletown, CT, where he learned carpentry with his father. In fifth grade he met Nancy Eastman, his future wife. He was in the Honor Society at Middletown High School. In 1958, Bob married his childhood sweetheart, Nancy. He graduated from Wesleyan University the following year. They then moved to White Plains, NY, and Bob began his lengthy career with New York Telephone in Manhattan.
Bob earned a MS degree in Mathematics from NYU in 1964, a MS in Human Resources from American University in 1983, and a Liberal Arts certificate from Williams College in 1989. After many years of Human Resource Development work for NY Tel., he retired to do independent consulting work.
In 1976, he and Nancy bought their Putney, VT property overlooking the Connecticut River and built a vacation home, which became their primary home in 1992. Bob continued his consulting work for several years. He then resumed carpentry work, doing house renovations locally.
While in White Plains, he volunteered as Cub Master, sang in Westchester Choral Society, and was active in his church. In Vermont, Bob was involved with the Rotary Club, Centre Congregational Church, Brattleboro Museum and Arts Center, and Friends of Music at Guilford-Chamber Singers.
Bob was always proud of his three sons and their families: Richard and his wife, Teresa, of Joppa, MD; Dean and his wife, Marianne, of Bar Harbor, ME; Dale and his wife, India, of Brattleboro, VT; Rick's children and stepchildren Ryan DiMauro, Jennifer DiMauro, Lauren DiMauro, Brianna Pickle and husband Robbie Pickle, Bryce Yapps, and Kaylie Yapps; Dean's children Pierce DiMauro, Kirstin DiMauro, and Bryce DiMauro; and Bob's great granddaughter Lillie Pickle.
Bob's love of life centered on his wife, Nancy, of 54 years, his children and grandchildren, and his friends. He enjoyed seasonal sports and woodworking. He enjoyed assisting groups with conflict resolution and team building. Helping people work well together was very important to him. He appreciated planning adventures and traveling with his wife as well as spending time together outdoors all year round in the beautiful hills of Vermont.

A celebration of life service will be held at 1:00 on Saturday, October 27 at Centre Congregational Church, 193 Main Street, Brattleboro, VT 05301, officiated by the Rev. Fred Edmunds and the Rev. Carra McFadden.
