Bedford. - Robert G. Driscoll, 73 died, September 25, 2005, in his sleep in his home in Bedford. Mr. Driscoll was born in Yonkers, N.Y. on August 11, 1932, the son of William and Katherine (Newton) Driscoll. He served in the United States Air Force in the early 1950s. Following his service he attended Iona College. He spent many years working in sales for Hallmark Cards. He resided in Carle Place, New York for several years where in the 1950s he started his philatelic business, which would become his lifelong passion. He became one of the leaders of the philatelic industry rising to President of the American Stamp Dealers Association in the late 1970s. After moving to Massachusetts and then Bedford, New Hampshire where he has lived since 1987, his success continued through his co-ownership with wife, Arlene, of Brookman Barrett & Worthen, one of the leading stamp and cover mail order companies and publisher of the stamp industrys leading United States price guide. His hobbies included jigsaw puzzles, fishing and extensive traveling for both business and pleasure, with his wife with a particular passion for Hawaii where he and his wife visited on almost forty occasions. He was a gentle and kind husband, father, stepfather, grandfather, and friend. In his life. Family members include his wife of twenty-four years, Arlene Dunn Driscoll, son, Robert W. Driscoll and daughter in-law Ellen Driscoll, both of Carle Place, N.Y.; daughter Susan C. Krynicki and son-in-law Steven R. Krynicki, both of Ashburn, Va.; stepdaughter Lisa M. Martelli and son-in-law Robert J. Martelli, both of North Andover, Ma.; stepson Christopher M. Dunn, of Stamford, Ct.; stepdaughter Kimberly Spelman and son-in-law Jeffrey P. Spelman, both of Franklin, Ma. His ten grandchildren include Christopher, Meagan and Daniel Driscoll; Alissa and Benjamin Krynicki; Jeffrey and Jamie Martelli; Christopher Dunn; and Ryan and Rebecca Spelman. Calling hours will be Wednesday evening from 7:00 until 9:00 PM at Phaneuf Funeral Home, 243 Hanover Street in Manchester. There will be a Memorial Service on Thursday morning at 11:00 AM in the funeral home chapel. Private graveside services will take place at a later date in Bedford Village Cemetery.
