Robert J. Gutt, 68, of Marlboro, VT passed away on Monday, April 7, 2014 at his residence in Marlboro. He was born in Hartford, CT on September 9, 1945, the son of the late John and Theresa Gutt.

Bob has been a Vermont resident for 20 years, previously residing in CT. He was educated in the CT school system, graduating from Glastonbury High School. He then went on to attend the College of Technology earning a bachelor's degree in civil engineering. Bob served his country in the U.S. Army. He was the owner and operator of Sweet Briar Country Store in Marlboro for many years until his retirement. He was an avid Red Sox Fan, was a very talented stone mason, building many beautiful stone walls, and was a trustee of the volunteer fire department in Marlboro. Bob will best be remembered by his family as a lovely and devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend.

He is survived by his wife, Joanne (Lenares) Gutt of Marlboro, VT; two sons, David Gutt of Brooklyn, NY and Michael Gutt and his wife Trisha of W. Springfield, MA; a sister, Patricia Schultz of Colchester, CT; a step-father, Leo Poulin of Enfield, CT; a grandson, Hunter John Gutt of W. Springfield, MA as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Agnes Mikijaniec, Dr. Potash, and the entire staff at BMH for the exceptional care that you gave to Bob.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, April 10, 2014 from 3PM to 7Pm at KER-WESTERLUND FUNERAL HOME, 57 High St., Brattleboro, VT. A private funeral service will be held the next day. In lieu of flowers donation may be made in Robert's name to BMH Oncology Department, 17 Belmont Ave., Brattleboro, VT 05301.
