Robert E. Hunkins, 86, of Hooksett, passed away on January 12, 2021 with his family by his side.
Born in Manchester on June 17, 1934, he was the son of Edward and Doris (Heath) Hunkins. He was a United States Army Veteran. He has worked for Holmes Transportation and was a member of the Teamsters Union Local 633 for 25 years. He had also worked for the Department of Corrections and Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office for 12 years until his retirement. He spent his retirement years going on many cruises with his wife and playing cards with friends on Friday night. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Family members include his wife of 39 years, Geraldine "Gerrie" (Sawyer) Hunkins; a son, Brian Hunkins of Los Angeles, CA; two stepsons, Brant Wright of Concord and Boyd Wright of Hooksett; two stepdaughters, Mary Wright of Franklin and Donna Wright of Tilton; thirteen grandchildren and many great grandchildren; and nephews, nieces, and cousins. He was predeceased by two sisters, Virginia Dupont and Cynthia Adams.
Calling hours will be at Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 243 Hanover St, Manchester on Monday from 5 to 7 PM with a funeral service to follow in the funeral home chapel at 7 PM conducted by the Rev Charles Johnson. Burial with military honors will take place on Tuesday afternoon at 2 PM in Pine Grove Cemetery, Manchester.
