Robert C. “Bobby” Jones of Northfield, NH passed away Friday, October 22, 2021, at Granite VNA Hospice House after a period of failing health. Bob was lovingly cared for by his wife, Denise.
Bob was born in Connecticut, the only child of William and Grace (Brownerwein) Jones. He attended Kent State University in Ohio where he earned his bachelor’s degree. Following graduation, he returned to New Hampshire where he made his home in Northfield and began a career in the printing industry. He worked for Rumford Press, Concord Litho, and Cumming Printing where he made many brothers and treasured friends.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 15 years, Denise D. Jones; his son, Nathaniel L. Jones; stepdaughters Cindy Jenkins, Kristy Lopez, and Lynda Lopez; cousins Carole, Joan, and Glyne from Canada, Linda Jones, Robert Jones, and Huey Jones; and grandson Cameron J. Chatfield. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his daughter, Jennifer Ahern.
Bob had a passion for firearms which he cultivated as an avid bird hunter in his younger years. After Bob retired, he never worked a day in his life as he applied his extensive knowledge and provided guidance at Riley’s Sporting Goods. He always welcomed the chance to teach others his talents and enjoyed more than ten years at Riley’s sharing his lifelong experiences with firearms and the safety of owning one. He loved teaching his grandson special shooting skills for skeet shooting and educating him on firearm safety. As a lifelong learner, Bob tried to absorb as much knowledge as he could by reading, watching documentaries, and faithfully following Jeopardy. He often bragged about how smart he was. Bob also enjoyed golfing and was a fan of the famous “Bobby Jones.” He loved family gatherings and adored his fur babies. Bob dabbled in many other hobbies including owning his Mopar and sailing the “America” as a summer job where sailing quickly became a dream. Sailing was an ever-present item on his bucket list and now he has one more time to sail…So Sail Away, Hon!
A private celebration of Robert's life will be held at a later date in the spring.
Donations in Bob's memory can be made to the Franklin VNA & Hospice Care Center
