Robert E. Lareau, 85, died on Saturday, November 15, 2008, at Catholic Medical Center, in Manchester.
Mr. Lareau was born on May 30, 1923, in Goffstown, NH, the son of the late Nazaire and Amelia (Pratte) Lareau. He was a life long resident of Manchester.
He was veteran, having served in the United States Navy, during World War II.
Mr. Lareau was employed at Ammon Electric for 20 years, where he was employed as a supervisor. He later worked for 20 years at RCL Electronics.
He was a member of the Alpine Club, VFW, Jutrus Club and the Rimmon Club.
Mr. Lareau was an avid golfer and was a 30 years member of the Intervale Country Club, in Manchester. He also enjoyed playing pool and playing cribbage with his family.
Members of his family include; his wife of 63 years, Madeleine (Tolme) Lareau, of Manchester; 2 sons, George R. Lareau and Mark E. Lareau, both of Manchester; 1 daughter, Jacqueline Doyon, of Manchester; 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Mr. Lareau was predeceased by his son, Robert Kenneth Lareau.
IN HIS LIFE: While in the service, he was stationed in New Caledonia, where he met his wife, Madeleine, returning to New Hampshire in 1945.
SERVICES: A memorial gathering will be Wednesday, November 19, from 10:15 – 11:15 A.M. at The Phaneuf Funeral Home, 243 Hanover Street, corner of Union Street, in Manchester. A memorial service will follow in the funeral home chapel at 11:15 AM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to Sisters of the Precious Blood, 700 Bridge Street, Manchester, NH 03104, in memory of Mr. Lareau.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium.
