Robert "Bob" Laurent Roy, 83, passed away on September 9, 2026, at Community Hospice House in Merrimack, NH. He was the son of Henri and Irene (Lavoie) Roy. Bob was married to his wife, Michele (Collins) Roy, on August 31, 2001, at Castleton in Windham. Their officiant and friend, Spencer Richdale, performed the ceremony. They recently celebrated a milestone 25 years of marriage and she was a devoted caregiver to him for many years.

Bob was born and raised in Nashua, NH, and his father sadly passed when he was young. When he wasn't at school, he went to work to help support his mother and brother. He graduated high school in 1960. Later, he joined the Nashua Police Department in 1965, and served his community faithfully until his retirement in 1995. He was a dedicated police officer for 30 years, and had many responsibilities during his tenure including department garage mechanic and ambulance driver. Seeing a need, he helped found the Nashua Dive Team, and became the Dive Master. In addition, he worked in the legal bureau transporting prisoners from Valley St. Jail in Manchester or the NH State Prison in Concord to the Nashua court. He also loved working with the Police Athletic League's haunted house. Bob would dress in costume and sit motionless on the porch, then when someone was nearby, he would jump and scare them. He was amazing at that. Bob was a member and past president of the New Hampshire Retired Law Enforcement. In more recent years, he loved to meet up with other Nashua PD retirees for lunch at various restaurants in the area.

In his free time, Bob loved drag racing at the tracks in Maine. Later on, he worked security at NHIS in Loudon in the Bob Behr suites. He was also a test tech at New England Dragway in Epping. Bob worked for nine years for his son-in-law, Dan Sweeney, at Sweeney Drywall. You could also find him crewing on his son-in-law's race team, the Quarter Warrior. After retiring from Sweeney Drywall, he worked for O'Reilly Auto Parts in Merrimack. He will miss his friends he made there; Henry, Dawn, and George. Bob was also a member and past officer of the Gate City Corvette Club in Nashua. He also loved spending his time with his wife. Bob was a member of the Disney Vacation Club so that he and Michele could take trips to Disney at least twice a year. He and Michele especially loved their annual cruise to Adirondack Vette Fest in Lake George, NY, it was always a time filled with fun and laughter. He cherished his 1965 Nassau Blue Corvette "Baby". Bob loved his family, and cared for his community greatly. He will miss his buddies in blue from the NPD. His wife would like to thank them for their support; especially Tommy Burns, for helping her during these times.

He is predeceased by his grandson, Kyle Sweeney; brother and sister-in-law, Raymond and Elaine (Charest) Roy; his parents, Henri and Irene Roy; mother-in-law, Estelle Collins; and his sister-in-law, Carolye McCusker.

Bob is survived by his wife, Michele (Collins) Roy; his children: Jennifer and her husband Dan Sweeney; Douglas and his wife Karen Roy, and Melanie Shepherd; grandchildren, Mackenzie Sweeney and her fiancé, John Choquette, Jr., Libby Shepherd, and Holly Roy. He also leaves behind brothers-in-law, George Collins and Patrick McCusker, as well as many other loving family and friends.

Assisting the family with arrangements is Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Nashua. There will be Visitation on Thursday, September 17, 2026, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the funeral home on 26 Kinsley Street, Nashua, NH. On the following day, Friday, September 18, 2026, there will be a Funeral Mass at St. Joseph the Worker Parish at 10 a.m. there will be a procession from the funeral home to the parish, so the family invites those who would like to be a part of the procession to meet back at the funeral home at 9:15 a.m., otherwise you may go to St. Joseph the Worker Parish, 777 W Hollis Street, Nashua, NH, for 10 a.m. mass. Burial will immediately follow at St. Louis Cemetery, 752 W Hollis Street, Nashua, NH.
