Robert M. Poirier, 92, of Manchester, passed away at his residence on September 2, 2023.
He was born in Troy, VT on February 26, 1931, the son of Joseph and Florence (Langevin) Poirier. He owned and operated Bob’s Texaco which became Bob and Son’s Automotive in the late 1980s. The business continues today into its third generation operated by his grandson Ian and his wife Stacy. He was passionate about cars and loved horses. He loved to travel back to his hometown in Vermont. He was an avid reader. He enjoyed spending time with his family and was an avid traveler. He visited every state in the United States and every province but one in Canada. He was known for his Sunday drives.
Family members include his wife of seven years, Muriel (Cote) (Horion) Poirier; three sons, Ronald Poirier and his wife Joyce, and Dennis Poirier and his wife Cathy, all of Manchester, and Richard Poirier and his wife Lisa of Kentucky; a daughter, Yvette Beliveau and her husband Donald of Manchester; eleven grandchildren, Ian, Isak, Jordan, Trisha, Amanda, Ryan, Nathan, Jill, Kristen, Erin, and Keith; fourteen great grandchildren; four step children, Raymond Horion and his wife Mary of Hooksett, Linda Dross and her husband Michael of Auburn, and Lisa Horion of Manchester; a sister, Evelyn Letendre of Bedford; and nephews, nieces, and cousins.
He was predeceased by his first wife of 62 years, Mildred (Cote) Poirier in 2015, by a son, Kenneth Poirier, and by a stepson and his Godchild, Norman Horion in 2016.
Calling hours will take place at Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 243 Hanover St. on Wednesday, September 6th from 5 to 8 PM. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home chapel on Thursday, September 7th at 10:00. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
