Robert T. Mills, Jr., 89, of Chesterfield, NH passed away on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at the White River Junction VA Medical Center. He was born in Keene, NH on February 16, 1927; the son of the late Robert T. and Mildred G. (Blake) Mills, Sr.
Robert served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was employed as the Chief of Police for the town of Chesterfield, for many years until his retirement. Robert was very talented. Anything he tried, he succeeded at with ease. He was an avid artist, craftsman, and photographer; he also enjoyed making stain glass, and jewelry. He was a member of the Brattleboro Camera Club, and the Chesterfield Volunteer Fire Department. He loved to travel and enjoyed teaching and sharing his passion for airplanes with his only grandson, Nathan.
He is predeceased by his wife, Ethel M. (Huntley) Mills in 1989; and two sisters, Roberta Marden and Marilyn Mills.
He is survived by two daughters, Doreen Sheltra and her husband Doug of Lydia, SC and Kerri Harlow and her husband Doug of Putney, VT; an honorary daughter, Nancy Campbell of Penfield, NY; nine grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren; one great- great grandchild; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, October 30, 2016 at 3:00 pm at the Chesterfield Town Hall, Main St., Chesterfield, NH. In honor of Bob, please wear purple. Burial will be held on Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at 10:00 am at Friedsman Cemetery in Chesterfield. The KER-WESRTERLUND FUNERAL HOME, Brattleboro, VT is assisting the family with arrangements.
