Robert A. Moreau, 60, of Manchester died February 2, 2006 at the VA Hospital following a brief illness. Bob was born on April 19, 1945 in Manchester the son of the late Armand and Gilberte (Guertin) Moreau. At the age of 17 he joined the US Marines Corps. and fought for his country during the Vietnam War. He served for over four years and returned home, a disabled veteran. Upon his return, Bob became very active with local retired and handicapped veteran organizations. He was a member of the DAV Chapter 1 in DAV with his fellow veterans playing pool and shuffleboard. He also organized and run Bingo functions for veterans at different locations throughout the area. He was a proud military man who continued to march at the Memorial Day parades until his illness prevented him from doing so. Bob was a loving brother and dedicated uncle who helped raise several of his nieces and nephews when his sister, Claudette Worster died in early 2000s. He maintained his sense of humor until the very end. Family members include; his sister, Jeannine Villiard of Manchester; two brothers, Paul P. Moreau Sr. of Manchester and Richard Moreau of China; his youngest sister, Denise Rita Chretien of Manchester; and many nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be Monday, February 6th from 2:00 until 4:00 PM and 6:00 until 7:30 PM with a funeral service at 7:30 PM at Phaneuf Funeral Home, 243 Hanover Street. Burial will be Tuesday morning at 10:00 at the New Hampshire State Veteran Cemetery in Boscawen.
