Robert L. Olson, of Manchester, NH passed away on August 7, 2024 in Manchester. Known for his kind and generous nature, Robert was a perfect example of a father and husband should be. He was born on April 21, 1937, in Medford, MA to the late Lennart & Helen (Stevens) Olson and would go on to marry his best friend and wife of over 50 years, Nancy, with whom he raised his beloved daughter Jennifer.
Robert led a remarkable life filled with love and lasting memories. His interests were as diverse as they were captivating. He had a deep love for his cats, who reciprocated that love in abundance. He also kept abreast of national and local politics, having met almost all presidential candidates and sharing numerous pictures and stories from those encounters. Additionally, he found joy in watching NASCAR races and more recently, he took great pleasure in following women's professional basketball. Those who knew Robert will remember his incredible memory and wealth of knowledge that spanned an endless range of subjects.
One of Robert's proudest accomplishments was his resilience in fighting Type 1 Diabetes for over 70 years. Diagnosed at the age of 16, he faced this challenge with unwavering courage and determination, inspiring all who knew him.
In the circle of family and friends who survive him, Robert leaves a void that can never be filled. He is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Olson, his daughter Jennifer Helsel and her husband Brad, as well as his beloved grandchildren Jonathan and Lilli Helsel. Robert has joined his brother Peter Olson in passing.
