Robert H. Provencher, 91, died Saturday, November 3, 2007, at home from complications of Parkinson’s disease.

Mr. Provencher was born on May 3, 1916, in Ashland, NH, the son of the late, Henry and Leona (Ruel) Provencher. He was the eldest of nine children. As a boy living in Ashland, he worked on his uncle Harry “Jack” Cote’s Farm in Holderness and in his store in Ashland NH. He graduated from Ashland High School Class of 1934. After high school, he worked at L. W. Packard in Ashland. Mr. Provencher resided in Ashland, until December 16, 1944. He then moved to Manchester and was employed at Kilton’s Whole Sale Meats, as a meat cutter for 37 years, then at Alexander’s Super Market on South Willow Street, and retiring from Ferretti’s Super Market.

Members of his family include, his wife, of 65 years, Gertrude (Laroche) Provencher, of Manchester; a daughter, Denise C. (Provencher) Shaw, of South Lake, TX; 2 sons, Arthur R. Provencher, of Franklin, NC; Henry J. “Hank” Provencher, of Manchester; 1 granddaughter, and 1 grandson, 5 great grandchildren; 1 sister, Lumina (Provencher) Straw, of Ashland, NH; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

IN HIS LIFE: Other family members include; his granddaughter, Dr. Dana (Shaw) Peterman and her husband, Dr. Mark Peterman, his grandson, Michael Provencher and his wife, Misty, his son-in-law, Daniel Shaw, of South Lake, TX; daughter-in-law, Brenda (Thompson) Provencher, of Franklin, NC; sister-in-laws, Patricia (Gray) Provencher, of New Hampton, NH, and Mildred (Fletcher) of Atlanta, Georgia. Mr. Provencher was a loving and devoted husband, father and brother. He was a modest, simple, humble and kind person. He was a Alter Server and received all his Catholic sacraments at St. Agnes Church. He will be remembered for his blue eyes and warm irresistible smile. A friend to all who met him. He enjoyed the simple things in life, most of all his family, being outdoors, and listening to Big Band music.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated, Saturday, November 10, 10 A.M. at St. Agnes Church, in Ashland, NH. Burial will follow at Green Grove Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to The Visiting Nurse Association for Hospice Care, 33 South Commercial Street, Suite 401, Manchester, NH 03101, in memory of Mr. Provencher.

The Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium assisted the family with arrangements.
