ROBERT F. SEITZ MANCHESTER – Robert F. Seitz, 80, died Friday, May 1, 2009, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Seitz was born on May 9, 1928, in Manchester, NH, the son of the late Frank and Lillian (Pickles) Seitz. He was a lifelong resident of Manchester. Bob attended West High School and graduated with the class of 1946. He also graduated with an Associates Degree from the Manchester Technical School. He was a veteran of the United States Army, and served during World War II and the Korean War. Mr. Seitz was employed as an Industrial Engineer, and worked for 30 years with J.F. McElwain and Timberland. He also was a teacher at the Manchester School of Technology for 15 years. He was a true outdoorsman that enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening. Bob was an avid skier and a former member of the Crotched Mountain ski patrol for 25 years. IN HIS LIFE: Members of his family include; 2 sons, James Seitz and his wife Coleen of Greeley, CO; Michael Seitz and his wife Kelly and their two sons Garrett and Logan of Manchester; 2 daughters, Diana Seitz and her husband Robert Fredette of Manchester; Maria Seitz and her friend Robert Cushing. Mr. Seitz was predeceased by his wife, Cleona R. (Gimas) Seitz who died in September 2006. He will also be missed by Beau, his loyal Springer Spaniel and hunting partner. Other family members include sisters, Evelyn Matson of Madbury, NH and Ethel Blichmann, of Manchester, NH., As well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. Seitz was predeceased by a sister, Dorothy Lazott of Candia, NH. Upon retirement, Bob would often describe himself as a full time Hunter, Fly Fisherman and Skier. He was an active member of the Manchester Fly Tyers Assoc., Trout Unlimited, Seventy-Plus Ski Club and the American Legion – Henry J. Sweeney Post. Bob was ever hard working; however, passionate with these activities. He participated as a volunteer with the stocking of salmon program. Along with family and friends, Bob enjoyed numerous fly fishing, hunting and ski vacations throughout the US and Canada. SERVICES: Calling hours will be Tuesday, May 5, from 5 – 8 P.M., at Phaneuf Funeral Home, 243 Hanover Street, corner of Union Street, in Manchester. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, 1 PM at St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 650 Hanover Street, in Manchester. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, in Manchester. It has been suggested that those who wish may make memorial gifts to NH Fish & Game Department/Pheasant Stocking Program, 11 Hazen Drive, Concord, NH 03301, or to American Diabetes Association, 249 Canal Street, Manchester, NH 03101, or to American Heart Association, 2 Wall Street, Suite 105, Manchester, NH 03101, in memory of Mr. Seitz.
