Robert A. Van Uden, 80, of Manchester, died January 19, 2017, at Langdon Place of Exeter.
Bob was born in Manchester on May 27, 1936, the son of Cornelius and Rebecca (McNeilage) Van Uden. He graduated from Manchester High School West, where he played football, basketball, and baseball. He was predeceased in 2008 by his wife of 54 years, Carol A. (Clement) Van Uden. He worked at Schonlands, Merchants Bank, and retired from Granite State Acoustics. Bob was a long time member of Intervale Country Club, where he served many years on the Board of Directors. He also volunteered with Cub Scout Pack 93 as assistant cub master. He enjoyed traveling with Carol, visiting California, Hawaii, Alaska, Canada, and Europe. They also spent many winters in Florida. Bob enjoyed all sports, especially golf and fishing. He was dedicated to his family, and was especially proud of his grandchildren and their achievements.
He leaves behind his children, Donna Cote and her husband, Thomas, of Naples, FL; Jim Van Uden and his wife Barbara of Brewer, ME; and Joyce Coryea and her husband James, of Lee; six grandchildren, Diana Peightell, Alyssa Cote, Elizabeth Van Uden, Alex Van Uden, Andrew Coryea, and Lauren Coryea. He also leaves behind great grandsons Owen and Chase Peightell, and Mason Barrow ("the 3 Musketeers") a nephew, nieces, cousins and a sister Rebecca Ahern. He was predeceased by his brother, A. John Van Uden.
The family would like to express their gratitude for the care and friendship given to Bob during his time spent at Langdon Place. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society and the American Diabetes Association.
Calling hours will be at Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 250 Coolidge Ave, Manchester on Saturday, January 28th, from 10 AM to Noon, immediately followed by a service at Noon in the funeral home.
