Robert Anthony Williams, 87, of Haverhill died January 5, 2012 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in White River Junction, VT from complications following surgery.
Mr. Williams was born in New York City on January 6, 1924, the son of the late Anthony and Ella (Tennant) Williams. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1943 and fought in the Philippines and elsewhere in the Pacific. Following the war, he enjoyed a long career as a manager of animal feed mills in New Hampshire and Connecticut, working for Wirthmore Feeds and the Agway Corporation, and at the Pillsbury Company mill in Kingston, Jamaica.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Ruth (Libby) Williams; four children from his first marriage to Marguerite Murray, Susan Ziegler of Sierra Vista, AZ, Lynn Beckwith of Loudon, Karen Engel of Boscawen, and Curtis Williams of Auburn; a sister-in-law, Shirley Williams of Boscawen; a step-daughter, Kathleen Sorokin of Maryland; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Richard Williams of Northwood; three sisters, Evelyn Leonardi and Joan Phillips of New York and Florence Lenhart of New Jersey; and a son from his first marriage, Robert A. Williams, Jr. of Cochise, AZ.
Committal Prayers will take place at 2:00pm on Wednesday, January 11th in the chapel at the New Hampshire State Veteran Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway in Boscawen.
