Roger R. "Bobby" Bergeron, 83, of Hooksett, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 11, at Elliot Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Manchester, he is the son of the late Eloi and Emma (Lortie) Bergeron. Raised and educated in Manchester, he married the love of his life, the former Elsie A. Robinson, in May 21, 1955. The young couple settled in Hooksett to raise their family.
A proud patriot, Roger served his country as a member of the Army National Guard for nine years. Following his military career, Roger worked in the food distribution industry in a variety of positions, retiring as a manager at Vista Foods.
A devoted husband, father, pepere, and friend, Roger was the pillar of strength for his family. He was a friendly and humble man who was loved by all. Roger enjoyed cooking delicious meals for friends and family. A longtime resident of Hooksett, Roger was a dedicated member of his community. Roger was actively serving as Sewer Commissioner, a position he held for 22 years. Throughout the years, Roger served as Police Commissioner and a member of the Budget Committee and Parks and Recreation Department. In his younger years, Roger served as a Franklin, NH Police Officer. He was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association and the Elks Lodge in Concord. A devout Catholic, Roger found great comfort and strength in his Christian Faith. At Holy Rosary Parish, he taught Catechism classes for several years. Roger will be best remembered for his vibrant smile and generous heart.
In addition to his loving wife, Elsie, with whom he shared 63 years of marriage, Roger is survived by his daughter, Donna A. Roy of Manchester; granddaughter, Kerri Ann Roy of Manchester; two brothers, Richard Bergeron of FL and David Bergeron of NJ; former son-in-law, Michael A. Roy of Manchester; several nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends. Roger was predeceased by two sisters, Doris Daigle of NM and Eloise Landry of Manchester.
ARRANGEMENTS: His Visitation will be held in the Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 243 Hanover St., Manchester, NH on Saturday, June 16 from 10:00A.M. to 12:00P.M. His Funeral Service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 12:00P.M. Committal Prayers to follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum, 474 Goffstown Rd., Manchester.
