Roger N. Cassidy, 83, of Manchester, passed away on November 16, 2019 at his residence. He fought a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Manchester on August 5, 1936, the son of the late Wallace and Cecile (Lemire) Cassidy. He had worked for Waumbec Mills for 25 years and also worked as a Lieutenant for Hillsborough County House of Corrections for 20 years. He and his wife raised seven children together. In his younger years he enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson side shift motorcycle, and was known as "SCAT" during his time playing football. He was an avid fisherman, and loved watching the Red Sox, Bruins and Patriots. He enjoyed spending summers on Northwood Lake with his Wife and children, grandchildren, and great grandchild. He was a long-time parishioner of Sacred Heart Church.
Family members include his wife of 63 years, Irene (Cote) Cassidy; seven children Diane Healy and Husband John of Westford, Deborah Ouellette of Goffstown, NH, Daniel Cassidy of Chichester, NH, Darlene Cassidy & Husband James Provencher of Bedford, NH, Dina Detone and Husband Peter of Weare NH, Son-In-Law Donnie Hill of Katy, TX.
He is also survived by 9 Grandchildren, John Austin, Joshua, Justin, Ashleigh, Jessica, Devon, Skye, Anthony and Dominic and 1 Great Grandchild Cora Rose.
He was predeceased in death by Daughter Donna Hill of Katy, TX and son David Cassidy of Manchester, NH. Also Brothers Andrew and Maurice Cassidy of Manchester, NH.
The family would like to thank all of the nurses at the VNA for their loving hospice care of Roger.
A memorial gathering will take place at Phaneuf Funeral Home and Crematorium, 250 Coolidge Ave, Manchester, NH on Wednesday from 4 to 7 PM. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday morning at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Church at 265 South Main St, Manchester, NH. Urn burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
