Roger P. Fontaine, 77, of Manchester, died in the early morning hours of January 8, 2010 at his residence with his family by his side after a brief illness. He was born in St. Jude, PQ, Canada, on January 18, 1932, the son of Oza and Regina (Phaneuf) Fontaine. He moved to Manchester in 1964 to work in the textile mills as a handmade shoe cutter. After retiring in 1990, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, playing cards and pool, riding is bicycle, and tending his garden. Family members include his wife of 49 years, Rachel (Paquet) Fontaine; two sons, Claude Fontaine and Marcel Fontaine, both of Manchester; two daughters, Louise Fontaine of Manchester and Diane Shramek of Derry; eight grandchildren; a sister, Laurette Bonnet of Canada; and several nephews, nieces and cousins. Calling hours will be at Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 243 Hanover St., on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home chapel on Tuesday morning at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to the William B.
