Roger A. Martel, Sr., 72, of 200 Hanover Street, died December 2, 2003, at the Elliot Hospital. He was born in Manchester, NH on August 23, 1931, the son of the late Thomas and Florida (Bellrose) Martel and had been a resident of Manchester for most of his life. He was very proud of his mom being of the Abenaki Indian Tribe. He was a US Army veteran and served during the Korean Conflict. He worked as a carpenter for Leblanc Construction and was a member of the American Legion Post 79. Family members include his wife of 49 years Grace (Dube) Martel of Manchester, a son, Roger Martel, Jr. of Wolfboro, NH, a daughter Patricia Shea of Oshkosh, Wisconsin, four grandchildren, two brothers, Sam Martel of Goffstown, NH and Raymond Martel of Manchester, NH, five sisters; Germaine Bussiere of Arkansas, Dora Raymond, Marie Therrien, Jean Therrien, all of Manchester, NH and Cecile Rogers of Auburn, NH. many nieces, nephews and cousins. SERVICES: Relatives and friends are welcomed to attend a committal service for Mr. Martel on Friday morning at 11 o'c lock in Mount Calvary Mausoleum. The Phaneuf Funeral Homes & Crematorium is in charge of arrangements.
