Roger Vaillancourt, 83, of Manchester, NH died February 26, 2008 at the NH Veterans Home in Tilton, NH following a period of declining health. He was born in Greenville, NH on March 26, 1924 the son of Amedee and Yvonne (Fortin) Vaillancourt. He was a member of the Company C 27th Engineer Construction Battalion in World War II serving in the Asiatic Pacific; he received a Philippine Liberation Ribbon with a Bronze Service Star. Roger was a truck driver for Manchester Sand and Gravel and resided most of his life in Manchester. In retirement he delivered parts for Hebert's Used Auto Parts. He enjoyed fishing and boating with his sons and his nephew Phil and Sarah Alton of Salisbury, NH. He was predeceased by his wife of 25 years Shirley (Hoyt) Vaillancourt who died in September 2000 and his son Peter Vaillancourt who died in December 2000. His family includes four daughters, Linda Duval of Dublin, NH; Debbie Bathalon of Epsom, NH, Anne Young of Shelbyville, TN and Brenda Bryer of Norwich, VT and Stoddard, NH; one son Robert Vaillancourt of Augusta, ME; three brothers, Ronald Vaillancourt of Ormand Beach, Fla; Jean Vaillancourt of Alstead, NH and Paul Vaillancourt of New Ipswich, NH; five sisters, Marie Bouley of Margate, Fla, Vivian Alton of Melbourne, Fla, Alina Alix of Greenville, NH, Rachel Martin of Morris Ill. and Denise Comeau of Greenville, NH, 8 grandchildren, 15 great grand children and many nieces and nephews. There are no calling hours. His Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 11:00AM at Scared Heart of Jesus Church, High St, Greenville. Everyone is asked to meet at church. Inurnment will take place on Monday, March 3rd at 10:00AM at the NH Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen.
