Roland Wilfrid Dionne

Roland W. Dionne, 76, of Manchester died December 7, 2011 at the Laurel Center in Bedford following a period of declining health.

He was born on February 24, 1935 in Manchester the son of Wilfrid and Alice (Jean) Dionne. He was a lifelong resident of Manchester, where he graduated from Ste. Marie High School.

Mr. Dionne was employed as a store manager for Grand Union in Manchester, Goffstown and Concord for many years. He retired from Bank of New Hampshire, where he worked as central supply manager for 15 years.

Roland was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed golfing, gardening, ice skating and many other outdoor activities. He was also an avid Boston sports fan.

A spiritual man, Roland was a former parishioner of St. Edmonds Church and was most recently a communicant of the Parish of the Transfiguration. He was a member of the League of One Thousand Men at Precious Blood.

Survivors include his wife of 57years, Jeannine R. (Pinard) Dionne of Manchester; 2 daughters, Carmen Gagnon of Manchester and Elaine Donati of Hooksett, 3 sons, Denis Dionne of Olney, MD, Richard Dionne of Manchester and Michael Dionne of Easton, MA,10 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren and his sister, Pauline Clendenin of Manchester. He was predeceased by his daughter Janice Johnson.

The family would like to extend a special thank you for the care and services that were provided to Roland by the staff at the Laurel Center and Amedisys Hospice.

Calling Hours are at the Phaneuf Funeral Home, 250 Coolidge Ave, Manchester Friday from 4-8PM with complimentary valet parking available. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 9:30 AM at the Parish of the Transfiguration, 107 Alsace St, Manchester. Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Manchester.
