Roland A. Dupont, 83, of Richmond, Texas and formerly of Manchester died October 22, 2006 in Texas following a lengthy illness. Mr. Dupont was born on April 7, 1923 in Manchester, the son of Joseph and Merina (Valliere) Dupont. He attended local schools and later joined the US Air Force, serving during World War II where he was a radio operator. Mr. Dupont worked for the Manchester Post Office and retired in 1983. He was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veteran Queen City Chapter #18 and member of the VFW Post 8401 in Bedford, American Legion Sweeney Post as well as Knight of Columbus Our Lady of Cedar Council #5260. Mr. Dupont moved to Texas with his wife Anne in February of 2005 to be close to his son, David and his family. A lifelong skier and skier to the end, he enjoyed the sport with his wife and kids. He and his wife toured much of the eastern seaboard on his Gold Wing motorcycle after retirement. He also enjoyed sailing on the waters of Lake Sunapee. He was a loving husband and father who enjoyed spending his days skiing or poolside as well as at Hampton Beach with his family, relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his wife, Anastasia (Zanis) Dupont who died in September 2005. Family members include: one daughter, Cynthia A. Beaudoin of Silver Springs, MD; two sons, David A. Dupont of Richmond, Texas and Steven J. Dupont of Peterborough; three grandchildren; and two sisters. There will be a Memorial Reception on Friday, October 27th from 3:00 until 3:30 with a Memorial Service at 3:30 at Phaneuf Funeral Homes, 243 Hanover Street. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
