Roland J. Latulippe, 85, of Concord died February 2, 2019 at Pleasant View Retirement Home in Concord, NH. Roland was born on September 12, 1933 in Bedford, NH. He was the son of Israel and Mary (Delisle) Latulippe.
Roland is well known in the State of New Hampshire and particularly in Bedford, NH where he served as a part time police officer for 45 years beginning on September 5, 1961 when there was only a chief, one full time officer and two part time officers. He retired on December 31, 2006 at the age of 73. Roland's father, Israel Latulippe, was a Bedford Police Officer prior to Roland and encouraged him to join the department. Roland was known for cheering up commuters while he directed traffic, waving, smiling, and passing out tootsie rolls in front of Woodbury Court/Macy's for many years. He has appeared in commercials for the lottery, in New Hampshire magazine and many other publications for bringing joy to people of every age. He loved his job and it showed. After an accident in 1993, the community outreach was amazing to help Rol get back to work. Fundraisers and cards to cheer him up were piled to the ceiling and he read each and every one of the 600+ cards and letters.
Although Roland didn't have any children of his own, he was a father figure to Jennifer Mazzei of Concord and surrogate grandfather to her 2 children Dylan and Kaylee and step son Matthew. Roland leaves behind one sister, Eva Barstow; and two brothers, Raymond and Leo Latulippe, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers, his twin brother Armand, Albert, and Robert Latulippe.
