Roland P. Martel, 76, of Derry, passed away on August 5, 2022 with his family by his side. He is the loving husband of the late Lucienne (Boulanger) Martel with whom he shared over 50 years of marriage.
Roland was born in Manchester on June 18, 1946 to Joseph and Cecile (Beliveau) Martel. He retired from the US Postal Service after 30 years of employment and was a proud veteran of the US Marine Corps, having served in the Vietnam War.
He was the master of bad dad jokes, usually laughing before he could even finish the joke and loved making people smile. He was a strong provider and took great pride in caring for his family. In his younger years he spent time as a troop leader for his sons’ Cub Scouts. Roland was the kindest and most generous man, and he will be greatly missed.
Roland is survived by his son Steven Martel and his wife Michelle of Derry, his daughter in law Michelle Pope, and grandsons, Joshua Martel, Joseph Martel, James Lafond, and Jonathan Massie. He is predeceased by his wife Lucienne, son Thomas Martel, brother Leo Martel, and his parents.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, August 12th at 11:00am in the Mount Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum in Manchester. Family and friends are kindly invited to attend.
