Roland Paul Lamy Sr, 83, died Sunday, February 23, 2025, at Concord Hospital in Concord, NH. He was born on March 26, 1941, in Manchester, NH, the son of Real and Cecile (Veilleux) Lamy.
He was the husband of Joyce (Belanger) Lamy. They were married on June 20, 1980, in Manchester, NH.
He graduated St. Marie High School, St Anselm’s College and Franklin Pierce University and was a member of the Army National Guard. Roland dedicated his life to public service and served 30 years as a NH State Trooper. Most of his tenure with the NH State Police was in the Major Crimes Unit. He retired in 1994. After retirement he spent several years as the Director of Safety at Franklin Pierce University and then working with his many friends at Banks Chevrolet in Concord, NH, as a Sales Representative.
Roland was an avid athlete, inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame for Catholic High Schools in Manchester in 2001 for his achievements on the basketball court. He later enjoyed years of tennis, winning eight consecutive father-son tournaments with Roland Jr. Fishing was his passion, and his first thought was always spending time on the lake at his camp in Pittsburg, NH, and several fishing trips with family and friends to Alaska. If using a cell phone was a sport, Roland was an All-Star, spending hours connected to everyone he knows through many minutes of phone time.
Roland is predeceased by his parents Real and Cecile Lamy and sister Pauline Paquette.
Roland is survived by his wife of 45 years Joyce Lamy, his three children Claudette Kelley, Denise Lamy and Roland Lamy Jr and his wife Eileen. He leaves behind three grandchildren Chas Jarest and his wife Jennifer, Chelsea Chagnon and her husband Richard and Matthew Lamy. He also is survived by four great grandchildren, Sophie and Vance Chagnon and Soren and Nori Jarest.
