Roland H. Paradis, Sr., 62, of 9 Hickory Lane, Bedford, died August 15, 2000 at Parkland Medical Center in Derry. He was born on September 7, 1937, the son of Aime H. and Mary T. (DeSchuitneer) Paradis. He grew up in Goffstown and had been a Bedford resident for the past 33 years. He attended Goffstown High School and was a Korean Conflict Army Veteran. For over forty years, he owned and operated Jutras Sign Company, retiring in 1998. Throughout his career, he acquired several companies to expand his business including H. J. Touhy & Son, Nobert Sign Company and State Outdoor Advertising. He held a Masters Electrician License and was skilled as a neon tube bender. He was a past member of the Bedford Lions Club and served on the Board of Directors for the Salvation Army. He was very active with the Goffstown and Bedford Adult Basketball Leagues. He belonged to the Buick Club of America. For many years, he was an active member of the World Sign Association. He was a parishioner of St. Elizabeth Seton Church. He will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. Family members include his mother of Goffstown, his wife of forty years, Irene (Duhamel) Paradis; a son, Roland H. Paradis, Jr., of Goffstown; four daughters, Mrs. Mark (Diane) O'Dowd of Goffstown, Mrs. Joseph (Cathy) Champagne, Mrs. Brian (Renee) Bowen and Mrs. Serafim (Sharon) Galatas, all of Manchester; nine grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Antonio J. (Joan) Roy and Elaine Powers, both of Goffstown; and several nephews, nieces and cousins. Calling hours will be at Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 243 Hanover St., on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 12:00 PM in St. Elizabeth Seton Church, Bedford. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
