Roland A. Trahan, Sr., age 80, of Manchester, NH died on Saturday, April 25, 2009. He was the husband of Irene E. (Prive) Trahan. He was born on Feb. 17, 1929, son of the late Evangelis J. Trahan and Laura (Goupil) Trahan. Though born in Canada, he moved to the states as a young boy and spent much of his life in New Hampshire. Roland was involved in the restaurant business for over 30 years. He owned and operated several local Diners, including Irene and Rol's Diner. During this time, he was active in coaching and sponsoring little league baseball in Manchester. He is remembered for purchasing the first pitching machine for the little league. Roland worked as a custodian at Central High School and Highland Goffsfalls. He liked to boat and travel to the Isle of Shoals. He loved the outdoors, remembered as a hunter, fisherman and many weekend trips with the family. He also loved to entertain, cook and play horseshoes. Roland was a "role model" Husband, Father and Grandfather. Besides his wife of 60 years, Irene, he is survived by a son: Roland A. Trahan, Jr of Manchester; three daughters: Suzanne Adams of Florida, Sandra L. Turgeon of Manchester, Lisa L. Trahan of Manchester; two brothers: Victor Trahan, Sylvio "Pete" Trahan; three sisters: Gabrielle Wells, Alma Cote and Janine Croteau. He also leaves 7 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, April 30, 2009 at 10:00am in the Phaneuf Funeral Home, 243 Hanover Street, Manchester, NH. Followed by a committal service at the Pine Grove Cemetery.
