FORMER 11 TERM STATE LEGISLATURE Roland M. Turgeon, 85, of Manchester, died December 17, 2000, at Catholic Mecial Center. He was born in Manchester on October 30, 1915, the son of Joseph and Fabiola (Bilodeau) Turgeon and had been a lifelong resident of the Queen City. He was a graduate of St. Joseph High School, was a W.W. II Army Veteran, was a former State Representative and served for 11 terms beginnining his first term in the House in 1941, also served on the County Executive Committee in 1987, affiliated with the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post # 8214, the American Legion Jutras Post # 43, the Last Man Club of Jutras Post, and the Rimmon Club. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a letter carrier retiring in 1976 after 40 years of service and belonged to the National Association of Letter Carriers. Roland worked part-time as a Security Guard for Spaulding and Slye. His priorities were keeping our rivers and other bodies of water clean, having a balanced budget without new taxes and was very strict with new drug laws. He loved fishing and reading. Family members include his wife of 61 years Simone (Simoneau) Turgeon, two daughters, Claudette ''Toni'' Vachon and Ruth Poisson, all of Manchester, three grandchidren, two great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. SERVICES: Calling hours are at the Phaneuf Funeral Homes & Crematorium, 250 Coolidge Avenue, Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday morning at 10:30 O'Clock in Ste. Marie Church. Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Donations may be made to one's favorite charity
