Romeo Robert Dubreuil, Sr., 97, of Manchester, NH, peacefully passed away on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at Elliot Hospital in Manchester, NH, surrounded by his loving family. Born on December 19, 1926, to Alfred Dubreuil and Ludivine (Pratte) Dubreuil, Romeo's journey began in Manchester, NH, where he received his education in local schools.

Romeo dedicated much of his career to the local shoe industry, where he served as a respected foreman. His professional path began as the chief herdsman at the now historic Joppa Hill Educational Farm. However, beyond his professional endeavors, Romeo's true legacy lies in his role as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

A proud veteran, Romeo served in the United States Navy during WWII from 1943 to 1947. Upon returning home, he married the love of his life on October 30, 1949. Romeo possessed a profound appreciation for the natural world, which he shared generously with all who knew him. His joys included cultivating gardens, nurturing plants and trees, and tending to his cherished vegetable patch. Additionally, he cherished fishing expeditions off the coast of New England and hunting for big game across the picturesque landscapes of New Hampshire. In retirement, Romeo and his beloved wife Lorraine embarked on adventures along the East Coast in their RV, particularly relishing their time deep-sea fishing. Throughout his life, Romeo's unwavering devotion to his family remained his guiding light.

Romeo is preceded in death by his daughter, Pauline (Dubreuil) Peloquin, as well as his brothers Maurice, Robert, and Francis Dubreuil, and sister Rita Szymodi. He is survived by his equally devoted wife of 75 years, Lorraine (Paquette) Dubreuil; his sister Lillian Rheaume; his children, Diane (Dubreuil) Douglas and her husband Michael Douglas of Auburn, NH, Romeo Dubreuil Jr. and his wife Tammy of Warner, and former spouse Judy Green of Hopkinton, who remained an important part of his family; Linda (Dubreuil) Paul and her husband Theodore Paul of Orange, MA; Doris (Dubreuil) Van Dusen and her husband Kevin Van Dusen of Bow; Alfred Dubreuil and his fiancée Tammy Mailhot of Londonderry; and Brian Dubreuil and his wife Krisha of Manchester. His legacy also extends to his grandchildren, Jody, John, Stephanie, Michael Jr., Holly, Amy, Lindsay, Aliza, Eric, Nathan, Rebecca, Amanda, Julie, Matthew, Andrew, and 22 great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to express heartfelt gratitude to the entire Elliot Hospital care team for their exceptional care and compassion during Romeo's stay. Their dedication and expertise provided comfort and support to Romeo and his loved ones during a challenging time, leaving a lasting impression on the family.

A private interment will be held at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Manchester for family and close friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests planting a beautiful garden, tree, or plant in memory of Romeo. For those wishing to honor Romeo with a gift, donations to the New Hampshire Veteran Hospital would be deeply appreciated.
