Ronald Prospero Murro, 86, of Littleton, NH passed away from natural causes on December 16, 2025, at Littleton Regional Hospital.

Ron is survived by his wife of 50 years, Carolyn, his son, Christopher, and grandsons Troy, Tyler and Daniel.

Ron was born in Tarrytown, NY to Prospero and Antoinette Murro. He received a full scholarship to Cooper Union College in New York City and graduated with a BS in Civil Engineering. He then received a National Defense Fellowship from Columbia University where he earned an MS and PhD in Engineering Science.

Ron and his wife Carolyn were married in 1975 and moved from Amherst to Lyman, NH in 1985 and then to Littleton in 2002. Ron was active in town affairs in both Lyman and Littleton. In 1997 he restored the Littleton Grist Mill complex and opened the Grist Mill as a very successful gift store. Throughout his professional life Ron was a partner in various real estate developments and investments in both northern NH and Wells, Maine.

Both Ron and Carolyn loved hiking, camping and life on their 185-acre farm in Lyman. Ron also enjoyed woodworking and especially animals. The Murros rescued homeless and abandoned burros from 1989 to 2025 as well as always having 2 or 3 rescue dogs around. Ron was also a collector of coins, clocks, and cars.

Ron will be remembered as a brilliant man of many talents, a true and loving friend and a real asset to the New Hampshire communities he valued.

Services: Visiting hours will be held on Monday, January 5th from 6-8 PM at the Phaneuf Funeral Home in Littleton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 6th 10-11AM at St. Rose of Lima Church in Littleton with Father Ryan Amazeen officiating. Burial will follow at the St. Rose of Lima Cemetery.
