Ronald Douglas Wilkins, 73, passed suddenly November 10, 2025, in his woods, doing what he loved, hunting. While tracking a 162lb 8-pointer he suffered a cardiac event. Born September 30, 1952, in Littleton, New Hampshire to Douglas and Marion (Austin) Wilkins, he spent his childhood in Lisbon. He attended Lisbon Regional School excelling in cross-country, basketball, and baseball, graduating in 1970, and attending Plymouth State College. On August 27, 1977, he married Cheryl Hubbard. In 1979 they moved into the home they built on her family’s land in Lyman. There they raised two children, Lindsey and Derek. Years later more excitement and joy arrived when Derek and Elizabeth (Storella) had two children, Oliver and Charlotte.
Ron was a devoted husband, fun-loving family man and loyal friend. There was nothing more important to him than spending time with his loved ones. He never wanted to miss an opportunity to show his support for his children and grandchildren, always attending school functions and extracurricular activities. If anyone needed help, he was the first there.
Ron loved sports and had a passion for the outdoors. He enjoyed playing, coaching, and spectating. Fishing, hunting, and golf were his favorites. He participated in local softball, bowling, and golf leagues. The love of the game led to him coaching a variety of youth sports teams. A sports fanatic for the Boston Bruins and Cleveland Indians (Guardians), he never missed a game.
Growing up Ron worked at Ogontz Camp in Lyman. In adulthood he held a variety of different jobs from baker to carpenter and finished his career at New England Wire Technologies, in 2018 after 39 years.
Ron was predeceased by his parents, Douglas and Marion Wilkins and his wife’s parents, Edgar and Bernice (McPherson) Hubbard. He is survived by his wife, Cheryl, and their two children, Lindsey and Derek and wife, Elizabeth, grandchildren, Oliver and Charlotte, sisters, Deborah (Mark) Foulke and Rebecca Wilkins, brothers-in-law Ronald (Julie) Hubbard and Larry (Donna) Hubbard, sister-in-law, Lori Williams and family, nieces, nephews, and great friends.
Visiting hours will be at Phaneuf Funeral Home, Littleton, NH on Friday, November 21 from 1pm-4pm. A celebration to follow at Iron Furnace Brewing, Franconia, NH from 5pm-8pm with memories to be shared at 6PM.
