Rosella Ada (Abbe) Whitney
Littleton, NH ---- Rosella A. Whitney, 97, formally of South Windsor, CT passed away peacefully October 27, 2003, after a brief illness, at the Grafton County Nursing Home in North Haverhill, NH.
She was born a daughter to Dwight and Emma (Green) Abbe in South Windsor, CT on April 14, 1906. Rosella graduated from East Windsor School in East Windsor, CT.
She married Raymond Fredrick Whitney from Maine on April 10, 1929. Rosella was a lifetime Methodist who worked hard in farming, tobacco, and potato harvesting and raising animals. Rosella enjoyed her family and loved gardening, crocheting, baking, and bingo.
Surviving family includes a daughter, Virginia Abbe Whitney Skillen of Littleton, NH; one son, Doyle Clinton Whitney of CT.; three granddaughters LaVerne Skillen Chamberlain and husband Ricky of Bethlehem, NH, Darleen Skillen of Littleton, NH, and Renee Whitney of CT; three great granddaughters Amanda and Kerrie Chamberlain of Bethlehem, NH and Ciara Stallings of Littleton, NH; and many cousins throughout CT. Her husband Raymond, two sisters Mildred Crane and Beatrice Wilson, her younger brother Clinton Abbe, and great-grandson Lee Stalling, Jr. predeceased her.
SERVICES: A celebration of her life will be held Saturday, November 1st at 6:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Littleton with the Rev. Stephen E. Bascom, Sr. officiating. A graveside committal service will be held at a later date in Windsorville, CT.
