Roxanne Baker, lovingly known as Roxy, passed away on November 6, 2024, at RiverWoods Manchester, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, kindness, and sweetness that extended far beyond her remarkable career. Born on February 4, 1948, Roxy lived a life devoted to her family, friends, and community.
A successful accountant for many years, Roxy was not merely content with the traditional measures of success; she had a passion that blossomed into a cherished home bakery, The Baker-E in the Woods. Here, she expertly crafted chocolate candies and beautifully designed cakes, from whimsical birthday creations for children to elegant multi-tiered wedding cakes that marked some of life’s most cherished occasions. Her confections were more than just desserts; they were heartfelt gifts that brought joy and delight to those she loved.
Roxy's thoughtfulness extended to every birthday, as she kept a meticulous record of her loved ones' special days, always ensuring that each person received a birthday card to brighten their day. She spread holiday cheer with an annual tradition of sending out around 150 Christmas cards, reminding everyone of the importance of togetherness during the festive season. In her time at the nursing home, Roxy once again showcased her generous spirit by keeping a tray of candy outside her door to be shared by all, including thoughtful provisions of sugar-free options for her diabetic friends. If she noticed a new resident sitting alone in the nursing home, she would happily take a seat beside them, bringing comfort and company to a lonely soul. She possessed the rare ability to transform the ordinary into extraordinary moments.
A devoted Boston Red Sox fan, Roxy thrilled in watching every game, letting her passion for baseball infuse her days with excitement. She also cherished Disney films and characters, always finding joy in their imaginative worlds. Christmas held a special place in her heart, accentuated by a fond attachment to her beautiful collection of snow globes, which twinkled in her home like the spirit of the season itself.
Roxy was not just a participant in her community; she was a pillar of support and inspiration. Her proudest accomplishments included countless hours spent volunteering with the Salvation Army, where her leadership helped mobilize bell-ringers and raise awareness for those in need. Her spirit of giving was infectious, leading others to join her in baking six dozen brownies for the Salvation Army Kid's Café, fostering a sense of community spirit wherever she went. Passionate and popular at Merchants Auto for her dedication to the Salvation Army, Roxy inspired countless individuals to lend their hands in service.
Roxy leaves behind her loving mother, Shirley Noyes, as well as her children, Brent Baker and wife Lynne Clough, and Brie Baker and wife Dana Mercer. Her family extends to her grandchildren, Andrian Baker, Calla Baker, Rowan Baker, and great-grandson Desmond Baker. Each of these lives carries a piece of her heart, a heart that was big enough to embrace so many.
